FRAMLINGHAM CASTLE:
This 12th century castle is one of the most important in England and is where Mary Tudor was proclaimed Queen. Built in the 12th century by the Bigod family (Earls of Norfolk) it is one of the finest examples of a curtain walled castle.
ORFORD CASTLE:
The little sea-port of Orford, famous for its oysters and smoked fish, is dominated by the massive keep of Orford Castle.
BLYTHBURGH CHURCH:
There are few sights in Suffolk more splendid than the magnificent Church of the Holy Trinity rising majestically from the marshy estuary of the River Blyth. It's size indicates the importance of Blythburgh in the 15th Century when it had two annual fairs, it's own mint, gaol and busy quays crowded with trading ships.
How to Travel to Gloucester:
London Stansted Airport is only 50 miles from Ipswich, while the A12 connects the town with the M25 motorway, making access to both Heathrow and Gatwick airports a convenient possibility. Trains also depart hourly from London Liverpool Street station.
