Car Hire Aberdeen Downtown Aberdeen InformationAberdeen is Scotland's third largest city, with a population of 212,125. Aberdeen is the county town of Aberdeenshire, and the chief seaport in the north-east of Scotland.
Aberdeen is commonly referred to variously as "the Granite City", on account of the main building stone used in older buildings in the city, and the "Flower of Scotland", Aberdeen long having been famous for outstanding parks, gardens and floral displays.
These days, Aberdeen also boasts the title of Oil Capital of Europe thanks to the supply of crude oil in the North Sea, and stands on a bay of the North Sea, between the mouths of the rivers Don and Dee.
With its sparkling granite buildings, Aberdeen has one of Scotlands most enchanting skylines, while the old town has a magical air of time gone by.
A fantastic range of first class restaurants and a vibrant nightlife combined with a thriving cultural calendar and shops galore, all help make Scotlands third largest city well worth the trip.
The capital of the Grampian Highlands is even more unique thanks to the treasures on its doorstep. Sample the "water of life" and visit the eight distilleries and cooperage on the worlds only Malt Whisky Trail.
