UK InformationThe United Kingdom of Great Britain occupies all of the island of Great Britain, the north-eastern portion of the island of Ireland and most of the rest of the British Isles. It is just off the northern coast of Europe. It is made up of four major countries -- England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland -- as well as several islands protectorates. The UK is a patchwork of cultures with fascinating history and modern culture. Although Britannia no longer rules the waves, the UK is still a central destination for all travellers. The capital city of the United Kingdom is London, one of the great world cities.
UK is a remarkably big attraction for such a small island, characterized by incredibly well organised tourist facilities, famous icons, beautiful countryside, uniquely historic culture and exciting cities.
Most of the visitors to the UK arrive at one of Londons five airports - Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and London City. Heathrow and Gatwick have regular train and bus shuttles to the city, the others are smaller and further out. There are also shuttles to nearby towns from these, while train services from Luton and Stanstead head north. Trains from Gatwick go south to Brighton. There are international connections to Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol. Why not check the price for Car Rental UK today. Manchester has intercontinental flights the other two service European destinations only. Edinburghs international airport also serves Glasgow, with limited inter-continental flights, but no trans-Atlantic flights.
The extensive train network links Londons airports to most UK destinations.
